Music Gallery – Focus: România | interactive exhibition about music from Romania

Edison House of Music hosts the new exhibition Music Gallery: Focus România from 9 October to 9 November. After exploring music of resistance and inspiring stories from around the world, the gallery returns to musical stories from Romania, in a first sample from research that is only just beginning.

For a month, visitors will find the story of vinyl in Romania, the role of the band Phoenix in establishing Romanian rock, the way hip-hop and cassettes went hand in hand, the reason why Pablo Casals called Enescu the greatest musical phenomenon since Mozart, and the place Johnny Răducanu would have had at the great jazz festivals had he lived in another era.

The organisers invite the public to listen to and bring their own musical stories from Romania, on a cassette, a record, an old article or an unknown story.
