TRANSCEND. Contemporary art exhibition ǀ Florin Olari

The Cluj-Napoca Art Museum hosts the exhibition "TRANSCEND", by painter and restorer Florin Olari, with the opening on Wednesday, 16 September 2026, at 6:00 pm, and the exhibition running from 16 September to 4 October 2026. Curator: Ancuța-Lăcrimioara Chiș; opening remarks by Hermina Csata (president of UAP Cluj-Napoca), Radu Rațiu (vice-president of the Cluj County Council) and writer Marius Țion.

The exhibition offers a journey through the transition between suffering and purification, moving from dark, textured areas towards luminous compositions, with elements of Byzantine origin reinterpreted in a contemporary language; the honeycomb returns as a structuring motif, a symbol of regeneration and becoming. The opening includes a performance by Vlad Sebastian and Alexandra Nuna.

Florin Olari (born 5 February 1982) is a painter and restorer authorised by the Romanian Patriarchate, a member of the Union of Fine Artists of Romania – Cluj-Napoca Branch, with theological studies and a doctorate in fine and decorative arts, and the author of the monumental painting in 17 places of worship; his doctoral research focused on the symbolism of honey and the honeycomb in religious and secular culture.
