In the Books of Art. Works from the Heritage of the Cluj-Napoca Art Museum

The exhibition In the Books of Art, open at the Cluj-Napoca Art Museum from 30 September to 25 October 2026, continues the 2025 project In the Books of Painting, bringing together works from the museum's collection centred on the image of the book and on the relationship between visual and textual reading. The selection has been broadened and now includes, alongside painting, graphic art, sculpture and objects, featuring artists such as Constantin Lecca, Romul Ladea, Abodi Nagy Béla, Tóth Szűcs Ilona, Camil Ressu, Max Hermann Maxy, Szolnay Sándor, Tasso Marchini, Aurel Ciupe, Dumitru Gheață, Fülӧp Antal Andor, Gheorghe Ilea, as well as a work by the German Expressionist artist Ernst Barlach.

The exhibition is organised into four thematic sections: Still Lifes with Books, Intellectuals in the Books of Art, Femininity in the Books of Art, and Artists and Books.
