PALEOCONTUR — Artistic protocol for the research of industrial infrastructures in relation to water

PALEOCONTUR is an artistic research project investigating the transformations produced by water on disused industrial and energy infrastructures, using analogue photography and photographic experimentation as research methods. After a first stage in Bucharest, the research continues in Timișoara, focusing on the Bega Canal, the Iosefin Water Tower and the Fabric Water Tower, at the Timișoara Garrison Command, between 12-24 October 2026.
Between 12-14 October, a participatory pinhole photography action takes place, in which around 20 participants selected through a public call will photograph the Bega Canal area with portable pinhole cameras, the images then being processed at the Garrison Command.
On 15 October, the opening of the PALEOCONTUR exhibition takes place, curated by lecturer Dr. Mădălin Mărienuț from the Faculty of Arts and Design of UVT, presenting the results of the research as a photo-video installation.
On 22 October, an artist talk takes place followed by a guided tour of the exhibition. The project is carried out through Energie! creative grants funding from the Timișoara Municipality via the Centre for Projects, with the support of the Timiș County Directorate for Culture.
