Under the Same Flag

The exhibition "Under the Same Flag" opens on Thursday, 1 October 2026 at 6:00pm, at Borderline Art Space in Iași (4 Carol I Street, building C, Habitat Proiect inner courtyard) and remains open until 30 October 2026. It is the second chapter of the project "In the Shadow of the Flag: Dialogues for Democracy", curated by Alec Bălășescu, with exhibition design by Claudia Retegan, bringing together artists such as Daniel Andújar, Matei Bejenaru, Florin Bobu, James Clar, Chus García-Fraile, Ferenc Gróf, Igor Grubić, Andreea Ilie, Pravdoliub Ivanov, Radu Jude, Cezar Lăzărescu, Glenda León, Ciprian Mureșan, Harcea Pacea, Dan Perjovschi, Ghenadie Popescu, Nicolae Romanițan, George Roșu, Avelino Sala, Michael Schäfer, Sasho Stoitzov and Mona Vatamanu & Florin Tudor, in a reflection on national symbols and new forms of populism.

The exhibition also extends beyond the gallery: a sculpture by Ciprian Mureșan will be placed on a platform in front of building B of Habitat Proiect, and mural works by Harcea Pacea and George Roșu will be visible on the access corridor from Bd. Carol I. The programme includes a debate with Diana Mărgărit, Eugen Pănescu, Bogdan Crețu and Alec Bălășescu on 2 October at 6:00pm, in the Studio J Hall of MNLR Iași.

The project is organised by Borderline Art Space through the AltIași Cultural Association, co-financed by AFCN and the Iași City Hall, with partners Habitat Proiect, 2/3 Galeria and the Cervantes Institute Bucharest.
