The Romanian National Opera Cluj-Napoca presents "Un ballo in maschera" (A Masked Ball) by Giuseppe Verdi, on 7 October at 6.30 pm, in the artistic staging adapted by Tiberius Simu, conducted by Adrian Morar. This opera in three acts, with a libretto by Antonio Somma inspired by the play "Gustav III" by Eugéne Scribe, tells the tragic story of Count Riccardo, his friend Renato and Renato's wife Amelia, caught between the two men, against a backdrop of honour, jealousy and betrayal.
The cast includes Hector Lopez (Riccardo), Geani Brad (Renato), Carmen Gurban (Amelia), Andrada Ioana Roșu-Vaida (Ulrica) and Lucia Bulucz (Oscar), together with the Orchestra and Choir of the Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca. The performance, sung in Italian with Romanian surtitles, has two intervals, ends around 9.30 pm, and is recommended for audiences aged 10 and over.
