The 8 best places for brunch in Timișoara
Poached eggs with stracciatella, Benedict with panko prawns, shakshuka and French toast: eight brunch spots in Timișoara, from Eggsemplar to Zai Après, with prices and opening hours.
- Places
- 8 brunch spots, all in or close to the centre
- Our pick
- Eggsemplar, 4.7 on Google from more than 800 reviews
- Budget
- 35–55 lei for a brunch plate at most places
- Best time
- at weekends, as close to opening time as you can; kitchens close between 15:00 and 17:00
Timișoara came to brunch later than Bucharest or Cluj. In 2024, after a visit to the capital, one of the founders of Eggsemplar noticed that what Timișoara lacked was precisely a breakfast culture, and a year later she opened a place devoted to nothing else. The city has since caught up. In the centre today you will find poached eggs with stracciatella and fried capers, eggs Benedict with panko prawns or with carbonara sauce instead of hollandaise, Turkish eggs, green shakshuka and French toast made from house-baked brioche. And at weekends, at the good places, you wait for a table.
For this guide we read the ratings and reviews on Google Maps (checked on 7 October 2026), TripAdvisor and the local press, and went through every venue's menu, so we can tell you not just where to go but also what to order once you get there. The Google rating is the starting point, not the verdict: a 4.6 from more than three thousand opinions says something different from a 4.9 from a few hundred, and a bistro rated highly for lunch and lemonades is not necessarily the best place for brunch.
Almost every place on the list is in the historic centre, between Piața Libertății, Piața Unirii and Piața Sfântul Gheorghe, a few minutes' walk from one another. Under each name you will find the rating, address and opening hours from Google Maps, read on 7 October 2026. Prices are those on the menus published by the venues, read on the same day. All of these may change.
1. Eggsemplar: our pick, on Piața Libertății
4.7from 828 Google reviews: 4.7 out of 5 stars
Strada Lucian Blaga 1, Piața Libertății on Google Maps
- Daily
- 7:30–16:00
Eggsemplar is the place that grew out of that observation. Răzvana Popa and Laurențiu Moldovan opened it in May 2025 on Piața Libertății, with the egg in the starring role, as the name says. It has 60 seats inside and another 40 on a terrace looking onto the square, and on weekend days, the founders say, 200–300 people come through on average. In less than a year and a half it has gathered more than 800 opinions on Google, at a rating of 4.7.
Almost everything comes on artisan bread from Madame Magnifique, a bakery in town, and the menu runs from eggs and toasts to Balkan dishes and a few lunch plates.
What to order
- Calabrian-style eggs: two poached eggs, buffalo-milk stracciatella, sun-dried tomatoes and fried capers, on toasted sourdough (42 lei)
- Forest frittata with burrata and chorizo: three eggs, mixed mushrooms, burrata, fried chorizo and truffle paste (55 lei), one of the most ordered dishes
- Toast with truffled burduf cheese mousse, poached eggs and crispy bacon, from the "Balkan Brunch" section (54 lei)
- Shakshuka fresca, vegetarian and green: broccoli, green beans, courgette, sun-dried tomatoes and two poached eggs (44 lei)
- Mic dejun leneș ("lazy breakfast"): two fried eggs, fries, goat's telemea cheese and pickled cucumbers (42 lei)
- Breakfast of the champions, for a big appetite: Uruguayan beef rib-eye, two fried eggs and sweet potato fries (119 lei)
- for dessert: French toast with pistachio cream and sour cherry jam (37 lei)
Atmosphere: a bright family place, with the terrace shaded among the square's old buildings. There is a children's menu (22–23 lei) and plenty of vegetarian dishes, a few of them vegan. Good for brunch with friends or with children, especially in terrace weather.
What people praise
- the plates, which look as good as they taste, one customer writes, and the generous portions
- the frittata with burrata, the Croque Madame and the avocado and salmon toast
- the staff, attentive, children included
- the vegetarian and vegan options
Good to know
- no reservations: you just turn up, and at weekends the terrace fills quickly
- not every review is good: some customers complain that the team starts clearing up before 16:00 or that they felt rushed, and others found the room crowded and stifling on a hot day
- one customer got bacon that was far too dry on the avocado toast
- budget: 40–80 lei per person, according to customers on Google
Why it is number one: it has the highest rating among the brunch places with hundreds of opinions, it is open every day from 7:30 and it does nothing but breakfast and brunch, with the most varied menu in town. Neața has four times as many reviews, but Eggsemplar gathered its own in less than a year and a half, at a higher rating.
2. Neața Omlette Bistro: the city's classic, on Alecsandri
4.6from 3,724 Google reviews: 4.6 out of 5 stars
Strada Vasile Alecsandri 2 on Google Maps
- Monday–Friday
- 8:00–16:00
- Saturday–Sunday
- 9:00–16:00
Ask in Timișoara where to get a good breakfast and, for years now, the first name you hear has been Neața (Romanian for "morning!"). The bistro on Strada Vasile Alecsandri, between Piața Libertății and Piața Unirii, has more than 3,700 opinions on Google, four times as many as any other breakfast-only place in town.
The menu is long and bilingual, with every dish also written in English: omelettes, scrambled eggs, poached eggs, bagels, waffles and pancakes, plus a few set menus with coffee and fresh juice included.
What to order
- Turkish eggs: two poached eggs on yoghurt, with chilli oil, roasted pepper salsa, paprika and dill (42 lei)
- Eggs Benedict with salmon, with baby spinach, pickled onion and hollandaise (48 lei)
- Shakshuka with goat's cheese (46 lei)
- Scram box with salmon: three scrambled eggs with salmon, butter and toast, with a beetroot salad (52 lei)
- Avocado waffle: a waffle with guacamole and two poached eggs (42 lei)
- American menu: three scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon and pancakes, with coffee and fresh juice (65 lei)
- for dessert: Pistachio pancakes, with pistachio cream and raspberries (39 lei)
Atmosphere: a large, welcoming room, with waiters who are happy to recommend something from the menu. It is almost always full, customers say.
What people praise
- the variety: from poached eggs and Benedict to avocado toast, "plenty" of options
- the vegetarian options
- the waiters, friendly and willing to recommend
- the English menu, handy for visitors
Good to know
- it is busy, and at peak times you wait for a table; its Google page has a booking link
- not everyone is convinced: one recent customer writes that the bacon waffles and the Croque Madame "didn't live up to the hype", especially at the prices asked
- at weekends it opens at 9:00
- budget: 40–60 lei per person, according to customers on Google
Why it is number 2: it is the most talked-about breakfast place in Timișoara and the safest choice for a group with different tastes. The 4.6 rating and a few reviews that find it overrated keep it behind Eggsemplar.
3. VIM: a small, unhurried bistro near Piața Maria
4.9from 357 Google reviews: 4.9 out of 5 stars
Strada General Henri Berthelot 7 on Google Maps
- Monday–Friday
- 10:00–16:00
- Saturday
- 11:00–15:00
- Sunday
- closed
The highest rating on the list. VIM is a small breakfast and brunch bistro on Strada Berthelot, near Piața Maria, at the edge of the centre. It has a few tables inside and a few outside, and the menu warns customers that preparation takes time: everything here is made to order, and the team thanks those who "slow down" with them.
What to order
- breakfast bagels and the mushroom omelette, often mentioned in reviews
- dishes with smoked salmon
- a croissant, French toast or pancakes, for something sweet
- papanași with jam and vanilla sauce, the Romanian fried cheese doughnuts, among the dishes highlighted on Google
- wraps and salads, including a Caprese salad, if you come closer to lunch
VIM does not publish its menu with prices online, so we could not confirm current prices. Customers on Google indicate 40–60 lei per person.
Atmosphere: warm and quiet, with careful décor. Because it is pricier than average it is rarely full, writes a customer who comes often. Good for breakfast for two, on a day when you are in no hurry to be anywhere.
What people praise
- the atmosphere, intimate and relaxed
- the staff, very kind
- the food, which is worth the wait
Good to know
- it is closed on Sundays, and on Saturdays it keeps short hours, 11:00–15:00
- expect a wait: orders take time, as the menu itself says
- prices are above average, and the rating comes from 357 opinions, far fewer than for the first two
Why it is number 3: it has the highest rating in the guide, but from the fewest reviews, with short hours and no Sunday. For a quiet weekday morning, it is the first choice.
4. Garage Cafe: brunch with coffee included, near Piața Unirii
4.6from 1,461 Google reviews: 4.6 out of 5 stars
Strada Palanca 2 on Google Maps
- Monday–Thursday

- Saturday
- 9:00–00:00

On Strada Palanca, close to Piața Unirii, Garage Cafe brings together under one roof a café, a pastry shop that makes everything in-house and a coffee roastery. The interior, designed by the Arhigest studio, is industrial, true to the name, with a piece of car chassis on one wall.
What sets it apart at brunch: every breakfast dish includes an espresso, a cappuccino or a tea in the price. The kitchen is open until 17:00.

What people praise
- the variety, from savoury to sweet, and the cappuccino
- the cakes, made in-house

5. Brick By Brick: the most creative menu, on Piața Sfântul Gheorghe
4.5from 507 Google reviews: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Piața Sfântul Gheorghe on Google Maps
- Monday–Friday
- 7:30–17:00
- Saturday–Sunday
- 9:00–17:00
Brick By Brick introduces itself briefly: "coffee. brunch. by the square." It is a specialty coffee shop with a kitchen, on the small Piața Sfântul Gheorghe, which turned two on 27 September 2026. The brioche is baked in-house, and the brunch menu has the most playful names in town and a few ideas you will not find anywhere else, such as zacuscă, the Romanian roasted vegetable spread, made here with porcini from the Banat, under poached eggs.
What to order
- Who's Benedict?: house-made brioche, cream cheese with dried tomatoes, two poached eggs, hollandaise and panko prawns (44 lei), the dish most reviews praise
- "CARBONARA" Benedetto: poached eggs with carbonara sauce instead of hollandaise, fried guanciale and peaches pan-fried in butter with thyme (45 lei)
- Zacusca Royal: porcini zacuscă, two poached eggs, grilled cheese, roasted pepper and house-pickled cauliflower (45 lei)
- Twerkish Eggs, their Turkish eggs: herbed Greek yoghurt, panko-coated poached eggs, garlic butter and house-made flatbread (37 lei)
- Cacio e Pepe Omelette, new on the menu (35 lei)
- for dessert: Le French Toast, with pastry cream, house caramel and Biscoff (37 lei), or Pistachio Pancakes (40 lei)
- to drink: a flat white (18 lei) or, for the curious, a rare coffee as a hand-poured filter (35 lei)
Atmosphere: relaxed, with a terrace on the square, Wi-Fi and room for children and dogs. Good for brunch with friends or for a good coffee on your own.
What people praise
- the poached eggs, "cooked to absolute perfection", with runny yolks
- the flavour combinations, different from one dish to the next
- the cinnamon rolls and the latte
- the team, very friendly
Good to know
- the kitchen is open daily from 9:00 to 15:30; after that it is coffee only
- some customers find it rather expensive, though they say it is worth it
- there are vegan options
- budget: 40–60 lei per person, according to customers on Google
Why it is number 5: on the menu alone it would rank higher. A 4.5 from 507 opinions keeps it behind the places above, but for anyone who wants something new and a very good coffee, it is the first stop.
6. Bruck Cafe: quail eggs and salmon Benedict, on Florimund Mercy

What people praise

- the quality of the food, surprising for a place right in the centre, writes one sceptical customer
- the long opening hours
Good to know
- portions do not convince everyone: one customer complains of a pasta portion smaller than the weight on the menu
- most reviews are about lunch and the evening, not breakfast
- budget: 40–120 lei per person, according to customers on Google; breakfast dishes cost 31–44 lei, except the Beef & Eggs
7. Jack's Bistro: a cheap breakfast, with coffee and fresh juice
4.6from 3,920 Google reviews: 4.6 out of 5 stars

- Friday
- 9:00–00:00
- Saturday
- 10:00–00:00

Jack's Bistro, a few steps from Neața on the same street, is the most talked-about place on the list: nearly 3,900 opinions on Google, at 4.6. It is not a brunch place in the sense of the others, but a large bistro with gyros, burgers and desserts that serves a simple breakfast menu in the morning, at the lowest prices in this guide.

What people praise
- the lemonades and fresh juices, many and varied
- the desserts, especially the papanași
- the staff, friendly and welcoming
Good to know
- most reviews are about lunch and dinner, not breakfast
- the breakfast menu is short and classic: omelettes, eggs on toast, bagels
- at weekends it opens at 10:00
- budget: 40–80 lei per person, according to customers on Google; breakfast costs 27–43 lei
Why it is number 7: it has the rating and review count of a top place, but they mostly praise the lunch, the desserts and the lemonades. For breakfast it is the cheap, safe choice, not the memorable one.
