Premiere: ROMEO ȘI JULIETA | Charles Gounod

The Romanian National Opera Cluj-Napoca presents the premiere of the opera "Roméo et Juliette" by Charles Gounod, on 2 and 3 October 2026, from 6:30pm, on a libretto by Jules Barbier and Michel Carré, which had its world premiere in Paris in 1867. The conductor is David Crescenzi, and the direction and set design are by Arnaud Bernard, together with a team made up of Dragoș Moldovan (assistant set designer), Iulian Dumitraș (assistant director), Pavel Jancik (fencing master), Magdy Hawash (video design) and Elliott Ganga (lighting design).

The cast includes Eusebiu Huțan (Roméo), Diana Țugui (Juliette), Zoltan Molnar, George Godja, Andrada Ioana Roșu-Vaida, Teodor Malanca, Horațiu Ruști, David Pogana, Alin Barna, David Năoian and Alexandra Leșiu, with Corneliu Felecan leading the chorus. The production, featuring the famous love duets and pieces such as "Je veux vivre" and "Ah! lève-toi, soleil!", is performed in French with Romanian supertitles, has two intervals, ends around 10pm, and is recommended from age 7.
