FICT 2026, the 12th edition of the Transylvania International Book Festival, takes place between 23 and 27 September 2026 in Piata Unirii, Cluj-Napoca, under the theme "Returning to Our Roots". The festival brings together over 60 events, nearly 52 hours of programme, 50 book launches, more than 70 books presented, over 150 guests and 66 exhibition stands; all events are free of charge.
On Thursday 24 September, the evening is dedicated to the gathering "Roots Won't Let Us Leave", with writers Cristina Demetrescu, Ruxandra Burcescu and Iulian Bocai, followed at 8:00pm by the relaunch of the novel "Anuta draga" by Bianca Tamas (Librex Publishing House). On Friday 25 September, British writer Louise Fein talks with Bianca Tamas about censorship, memory and the power of forbidden stories.
On Saturday 26 September, historian Marius Turda gives a lecture on roots and identity heritage and launches two volumes, writer Igor Bergler opens a discussion on truth and fiction in literature, translator Jean Poncet talks about Romanian writers translated into French, and the evening closes with the launch of the anthology "Umbra muntelui Heniu" by Dinu Flamand, produced by the Echinox Publishing Movement.
Sunday 27 September is Children's FICT day, and the festival closes from 6:00pm with the poetic dialogue "Furnici si lotusi" between Usha Akella and Ruxandra Cesereanu and with an evening of comedy, "Alta scurta!", featuring amateur and professional comedians from Cluj.
