Intermediate-experienced hike: Făgăraș Mountains, Lespezi Peak and Cornul Călțunului

An intermediate-to-experienced level hike organised by TerraMont in the Făgăraș Mountains, departing on Friday, 25 September, at 22:00, from the Refugiul Bâlea Tunel chalet accommodation. On Saturday the route follows Bâlea Tunel – Lake Călțun – Lespezi Peak – Cornul Călțunului Peak – Piscul Negru (20 km, +1050 m/-1780 m, approximately 9 hours), and on Sunday a circuit is walked: Bâlea Tunel – Iezerul Caprei Peak – Lake Capra – Vânătarea lui Buteanu – Capra Peak – Cabana Salvamont Cota 2000 – Bâlea Tunel (12 km, +670 m/-670 m, around 5 hours).

Participation requires moderate physical fitness (sports activities twice a week, 10,000 steps/day, body mass index under 30) and prior experience of at least two hikes with an elevation difference of over 1000 m; the certified guide is Alex Cosmin Ciobanu (certificate no. 6766). Full mountain equipment is required (hiking boots, thermal layers, a down or ski jacket, a hardshell, a 30-40 l backpack, etc.).

Transport is not provided directly, but the organisers help connect participants through a dedicated group or, depending on demand, through a minibus departing from Cluj-Napoca.
