The 10 best places for brunch in Bucharest
Eggs Benedict on scones, smørrebrød, shakshuka and French toast: ten brunch spots in Bucharest, from Cookie Beacon to Simbio, with prices and opening hours.
- Places
- 10 brunch spots, from Piața Amzei to Floreasca and Herăstrău
- Our pick
- Cookie Beacon, 4.8 on Google from more than 7,600 reviews
- Budget
- 40–65 lei for a brunch plate at most places
- Best time
- at weekends, as close to opening time as you can
Bucharest has started taking brunch seriously. Alongside the hotel omelette and the café croissant, the city now has eggs Benedict on cheddar scones, smørrebrød with smoked salmon, shakshuka with burrata, Turkish eggs with labneh and French toast made from house-baked brioche. It has queues, too: at some of the good places, at eleven on a Saturday you wait at the door.
For this guide we read the ratings and reviews on Google Maps (checked on 4 October 2026), the opinions on booking platforms and the local press, and went through every venue's menu, so we can tell you not just where to go but also what to order once you get there. The Google rating is the starting point, not the verdict: a 4.8 from more than seven thousand opinions says more than a 5 from fewer than two hundred, and a restaurant rated highly for dinner and cocktails is not necessarily the best place for brunch.
Bucharest is big, so for each place we also tell you which part of town it is in. Under each name you will find the rating, address and opening hours from Google Maps, read on 4 October 2026. Prices are those on the menus published by the venues, read on the same day. All of these may change.
1. Cookie Beacon: our pick, near Piața Amzei
4.8from 7,646 Google reviews: 4.8 out of 5 stars
Strada General Christian Tell 1–3, zona Piața Amzei on Google Maps
- Daily
- 9:00–18:00
Cookie Beacon started in Budapest in 2021 as a family business and has since reached Bucharest and Belgrade. The idea is simple: hearty brunch and big cookies, made by hand and baked every day. The Amzei branch, a few minutes from Piața Romană, has the best combination in this guide: 4.8 from more than 7,600 opinions, more than any other place on the list.
Brunch is served all day, every day, and the menu is short and built around a few ideas of its own: cheddar scones instead of English muffins, pancakes that taste like carrot cake, and a mimosa bar.
What to order
- Eggs Benedict on Cheddar-Scones: poached eggs and hollandaise on freshly baked cheddar scones, with feta, smashed avocado and honey-toasted granola (51 lei)
- Carrot-Cake Pancakes: fluffy pancakes with mascarpone and coconut cream, house-made berry jam, cinnamon and crunchy almonds (51 lei)
- Shakshuka Burrata: spiced tomato and pepper sauce, a sunny-side-up egg, feta and house-made seed crackers (59 lei); there is also a vegan version, with tofu
- Avocado Cheddar-Scones: smashed avocado on a warm cheddar scone (42 lei)
- Avo Smashed Big Cheeseburger: two smashed beef patties, avocado and cheddar in a house-made pretzel bun, with potato chips (57 lei)
- to finish: a big cookie (25 lei), the Nutella and Maldon salt one for instance, and something from the mimosa bar (29 lei)
Atmosphere: a small, modern and very photogenic space, almost always full. A customer who often passes by writes about "a continuous flow of customers" of all ages, and the team stays friendly even with a full room. The coffee is roasted in Barcelona (a cappuccino costs 17 lei). Good for brunch with friends, less so for a quiet morning.
What people praise
- the generous portions and the beautifully presented plates
- the team, friendly and welcoming, praised even by people who did not like the food
- the cookies, for many the reason for the visit
- the mimosa, which is not too sweet
Good to know
- no reservations: it is first come, first served, and at weekends you wait
- not everyone is convinced: a few recent reviews find it too touristy, and one complains of dry chicken in the chicken and waffles
- it is noisy when full
- there is a second Cookie Beacon in Floreasca, at Calea Floreasca 91–111
- budget: 60–100 lei per person, according to customers on Google
Why it is number one: it has the highest rating on the list from the largest number of opinions, it is open every day and it does nothing but brunch. Its weak points are those of a very popular place: a queue, noise and a short menu.
2. Frudisiac Brod: Nordic brunch and house-baked bread, in Floreasca
4.8from 1,400 Google reviews: 4.8 out of 5 stars
Calea Floreasca 111–113, zona Floreasca on Google Maps
- Daily
- 8:00–19:00
Frudisiac turns up on almost every Bucharest brunch list: a café with a Scandinavian feel on Intrarea Bitolia, in Dorobanți, which today has 4.5 from 2,860 opinions. Brod is its newer sibling, on Calea Floreasca, with house-made bread and pastry and a better rating: 4.8 from 1,400 opinions.
The menu, dated 28 September 2026, is Nordic without being rigid: smørrebrød, "Nordic" brioche, kefir pancakes, but also fresh pasta and a special that changes every week.
What to order
- Benedict Royal: Nordic brioche, smoked salmon, two poached eggs, avocado and lemon hollandaise (58 lei); the salmon can be swapped for bacon
- Nordic Croque Madam: Emmental, ham, a fried egg, caramelised butter and cream cheese with herbs and horseradish (48 lei)
- Spicy Fried Eggs: two eggs fried in sage-infused brown butter, with pickled pepper and sourdough bread (45 lei)
- smørrebrød: with smoked salmon, dill, herbed cream cheese, pickled onion and cucumber (52 lei) or with avocado, feta, cherry tomatoes and beetroot (55 lei)
- Tuna Melt, with green apple jam, pickled onion and Cheddar (48 lei), praised in reviews
- Kefir Pancakes: with cardamom, sour cream foam, orange compote, brown butter and thyme honey (50 lei)
- The Sweet Smöree: French toast with sour cream foam, pistachio, red berries and brown butter (46 lei)
Atmosphere: the space is why many people come the first time: large, inviting, with a design that reviews call spectacular. It is loud when full. It works equally well for breakfast at 8:00, a long brunch with friends or lunch.
What people praise
- the design and the way the space is laid out
- the food, with flavours that complement each other in unexpected ways
- the coffee
- the fact that it keeps up the standard of the first Frudisiac
Good to know
- service is the weak point: several reviews mention waiters who are hard to catch and orders that arrive slowly
- the pastry does not convince everyone: one review finds the croissant below expectations
- sides and toppings cannot be ordered alone: three at least, unless you also take a main dish
- budget: 80–120 lei per person, according to customers on Google
Why it is number 2: it has the same rating as number one, but from five times fewer opinions, and service that is still settling in. On food and on the space, it is hard to beat.
3. DeSoi: a chef's brunch at a communal table, in Mântuleasa
4.8from 717 Google reviews: 4.8 out of 5 stars
Piața Sfântul Ștefan 8, zona Mântuleasa on Google Maps
- Monday–Wednesday
- 9:00–20:00
- Thursday
- 9:00–23:00
- Friday–Sunday
- 9:00–20:00
DeSoi is hard to put in a single category: restaurant, wine bar, specialty coffee shop, delicatessen and bakery, all in what used to be a grocery shop on Piața Sfântul Ștefan. It was opened by three friends, Bogdan Ivan, Damian Morcovescu and Cristian Ivana, and the menu is by chef Adrian Pahonțu. In the middle of the room, designed by architect Alexandru Dabija, stands a communal table for 16, where you end up eating next to strangers.
Brunch is served daily from 10:00 to 16:30 and is what the press has called atypical comfort food: hardly any plate is quite what its name suggests.
What to order
- Omletă deloc simplă ("an omelette that is not simple at all"): a creamy three-egg French omelette with citrus sauce and avocado, on Nordic bread (43 lei)
- Greekish Eggs: poached eggs with Greek yoghurt sauce, clarified butter, cucumber, lime, smoked paprika, chilli and dill (42 lei)
- Sacrilege français: a flattened, very buttery croissant with sautéed spinach, béchamel, Tilsit cheese, a fried egg and smoked Mangalitsa pork neck, with green salad (52 lei)
- Scramble and greens: three scrambled eggs on Nordic bread, with a salad of seasonal Romanian tomatoes, spinach and chives (43 lei)
- Chifteluțe în cuib ("meatballs in a nest"): beef and pork meatballs, potato foam with a Parmesan-style cheese, pickled cucumbers and salad (51 lei)
- Vânătă pane (breaded aubergine), vegan, with tahini sauce, kohlrabi kimchi, hazelnuts and radishes (43 lei)
- Breakfast Steak: beef steak on buckwheat bread fried in butter, with mushrooms and a green peppercorn emulsion (59 lei)
Atmosphere: warm and convivial, with shelves full of wines, artisan preserves and jars to take home, and a bakery of its own. Water is on the house and fresh bread comes with your meal, one customer writes. Almost all the tables are inside.
What people praise
- the food: one customer calls it "by far one of the best brunches in Bucharest", at reasonable prices
- the staff, kind and attentive
- the specialty coffee and the baked goods
- the wine selection, several hundred labels strong
Good to know
- no reservations for brunch
- it is quieter during the week, customers say
- it is open until 23:00 on Thursdays, until 20:00 otherwise
- the digital menu explains every dish, in Romanian and in English
- there is a second DeSoi, next to Cișmigiu, on Bulevardul Regina Elisabeta
- budget: 60–80 lei per person, according to customers on Google
Why it is number 3: the rating is as high as the first two, but it comes from 717 opinions, some of them for dinner and wine. Of all of them, it has the most personal brunch menu.
4. Trofic: poached eggs and French toast, near Cișmigiu
4.7from 1,254 Google reviews: 4.7 out of 5 stars
Strada Ion Brezoianu 29, zona Cișmigiu on Google Maps

- 8:00–17:00
Trofic is a place meant specifically for brunch, next to Cișmigiu. The coffee is roasted by Origo, one of the best-known specialty coffee shops in the city, and the menu, under the motto "naturally evolved food", is short: sandwiches, seven brunch dishes and a few desserts, many of them vegetarian or vegan.
What to order
- Whipped Feta with a panko poached egg: whipped feta cream, mushrooms with thyme and lemon, a poached egg in a panko crust, sumac and white sourdough bread (47 lei); there is also a gluten-free version, with cucumber
- Poached eggs with cured salmon: sourdough bread, cream cheese with capers and dill, salmon cured in beetroot, dill and vodka, two poached eggs (49 lei)
- Poached eggs with turkey breast, cooked sous-vide with thyme and orange, on bread with nutmeg cream cheese (46 lei)
- Avocado Toast, vegan, with tomato and corn salsa and a sweet chimichurri with French mustard (40 lei)
- Steak & Eggs: beef sirloin, two sunny-side-up eggs, potato chips and chimichurri (89 lei)
- French Toast with mascarpone, white chocolate sauce with tonka and a berry coulis (45 lei), which several customers say is the best they have ever had
- to drink: a flat white or a pour-over filter coffee (20 lei each)
Atmosphere: a small, modern café with few tables inside and a handful on the pavement, in full sun. Precisely because it is small it always seems full, but customers describe it as warm and intimate. Good for one or two, with a book or an unhurried conversation.
What people praise
- the French toast, with a good crust and a soft inside
- the coffee
- the beautifully plated dishes and the unusual sauces
- the vegetarian and vegan options
- the team, warm and attentive
Good to know
- the kitchen closes at 15:00 from Monday to Friday and at 17:00 at weekends, according to the hours on Google
- it has few tables: come early or call ahead
- the salmon is a deep red, from the beetroot cure
- not every plate convinces: one customer finds the turkey sandwich good-looking but nothing special in taste
- there is a second Trofic, at Timpuri Noi
- budget: 60–100 lei per person, according to customers on Google
5. Le Bab: a Levantine brunch in an interwar villa, near Herăstrău

- to drink: a Mimosa (32 lei) or a flat white (22 lei)
Atmosphere: warm, with candlelight and careful décor inside and good seating outside. After 16:00 it becomes an evening restaurant, with grilled skewers and cocktails, so a late brunch pairs easily with a walk in the park.
What people praise
- the crispy crushed potatoes, mentioned in review after review
- the focaccia and the labneh
- the staff, friendly and polite
- the atmosphere and the outdoor seating
Good to know
- it is the most expensive brunch on the list: most dishes are over 50 lei, and the Steak & Eggs reaches 189
- a recent review describes a failed brunch, with overcooked poached eggs and a 40-minute wait for coffee
- you can book online
- leftovers are packed for you free of charge
- Le Bab also has branches on Calea Victoriei and in Pipera
Why it is number 5: it has 4.7 from 1,803 opinions, but most of them praise dinner. The brunch is good and served daily, yet it is only part of what the house does.
6. Simbio: the classic with a garden, weekends only
4.5from 4,600 Google reviews: 4.5 out of 5 stars
Strada Negustori 26, zona Rosetti on Google Maps
- Monday–Friday
- 11:00–23:00
- Saturday–Sunday
- 10:00–23:00
Simbio is the classic of the list, present for years in almost every Bucharest brunch ranking: an interwar house on Strada Negustori, with its tiled stoves kept in place and a garden with quince trees at the back, where Marcel, the house dog, wanders about. It has 4,600 opinions on Google, more than any other place on the list except Cookie Beacon.

What people praise
- the garden and the house
- the ricotta pancakes and the steak and eggs
- the way the old features of the house have been kept
- Marcel
Good to know
- brunch at weekends only, 10:00–16:00; the kitchen is closed between 16:00 and 17:00, while dinner is being prepared
- you can book online, and customers recommend doing so
- prices and service are the recurring complaints: one recent review finds the shakshuka too expensive for what it is, and another reports a cold welcome
- budget: 120–140 lei per person, according to customers on Google
Why it is number 6: it has a 4.5, two or three tenths below the places above it, and brunch only two days a week. But few places in Bucharest have a garden like this one.
7. Ever After: brunch every day, near Piața Romană

Strada D. I. Mendeleev 5, zona Piața Romană on Google Maps

What people praise
- the cocktails and lemonades, which taste of fruit, not syrup
- the staff, friendly and polite

- most reviews are about dinner and drinks, not brunch; about the food, one customer writes that it is good but nothing spectacular
- brunch ends at 15:00
- book ahead, especially at weekends
- brunch dishes cost 28–75 lei; most of them, 45–50
8. Butter: good coffee and a short menu, in a courtyard on Dorobanți

- for dessert: scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam (30 lei) or a cinnamon roll (28 lei)

What people praise
- the coffee
- the team, very friendly
- the courtyard
- the fact that dishes are adapted for people who do not eat gluten
Good to know
- the kitchen closes at 17:00, an hour before the café, according to the hours on Google
- the menu is short and has no pancakes; one review finds the food merely average, though the coffee is very good
- it has 363 opinions on Google, the smallest number on the list, so the rating can shift easily
- budget: 60–80 lei per person, according to customers on Google
9. Eggspress: eggs until midnight, on Pache Protopopescu
4.6from 1,658 Google reviews: 4.6 out of 5 stars

Eggspress is the answer for anyone who wants eggs at any hour: a bright place on Bulevardul Pache Protopopescu, somewhere between fast food and a restaurant, with dishes named in Gen Z slang ("Slay Eggs", "Cringe Eggs"). - the burgers
Good to know
- service divides the reviews: some praise it, others say they waited a long time for both the order and the bill

- simit, the Turkish sesame bread ring, filled
- tortilla de patatas
- șuberek, the fried Turkish pastry
Ou publishes its menu only on Instagram, so we could not confirm current prices. Customers on Google indicate 40–60 lei per person.
Atmosphere: a small, relaxed place, "unpretentious", with a short but well thought-out menu, as one customer writes. Now and then the kitchen strays from its theme with ramen days, which are not on the permanent menu.
What people praise
- the egg dishes, creative, with an oriental touch
- the garden at the back
